Will my insurance rates go up if I file a claim?

So even if you don’t file a claim and your neighbor does, they may raise rates in that territory. The bottom line is, if you have damage, it is in your best interest to file a claim immediately.

Does the insurance company take my deductible out of the payment?

Yes, so you pay your deductible to the contractor to cover the difference between the total repair costs and the amount your insurance pays, referred to as net claims.

What if my claim was depreciated and I don't have enough money to complete my repairs?

Don’t panic. Most insurance policies allow for replacement cost value and your insurance company will send you additional funds to cover the actual costs your incurred. If you don’t complete the repairs normally you will not receive any additional funds.

What if my mortgage company is named on my insurance check?

What if my insurance adjuster missed some items or said I have no damage?
